I'm Erlin, an independent developer based in UTC+8. I build small, focused software — and I keep the process visible, unfinished parts included.
What I'm working on
Right now the main things are:
- CapHub — an iOS app that turns your closet into a searchable inventory. Photo it, on-device AI tags and sorts it, everything stays on your phone.
- This site — a long-term project. I rebuilt it from scratch on Next.js 16 as a place to keep writing, projects, and half-finished experiments in one space. Lab entries are live; posts come as I write them.
- A Next.js + Tauri template — a starter for shipping desktop apps with a web stack, currently at v0.1.0.
Earlier I built and localized a design-patterns quiz game (23 GoF patterns, guess-the-pattern from real code) and deployed it as a standalone site.
How I work
Engineering background, but I don't stay in one lane. I like Swift on macOS, TypeScript on the web, and Rust where performance or safety matters — whatever keeps the build moving.
A rule of thumb I keep coming back to: a tool earns its place by doing one job well, not by being a platform. Most of my time goes into the less flashy work — tightening, simplifying, shipping. Making something that works feels more solid than making something that looks impressive.
Why this site exists
This site is more of a workshop: a place to keep what I'm working on, including what isn't finished yet. Experiments get shown whether they pan out or not. The writing is half for me and half for whoever's reading — if it happens to be useful to you, that's enough.
